HEIDI MORTENSON "CIRCULAR TAPE" 2010
On Circular Tape Heidi has shaped a work defined by the dogma of instant creation and recording songs using only a microphone and six effect pedals, building up the music by live sampling voice, beatbox and singing. Nothing was to be rehearsed or arranged ahead of time and with no other aim than to play music and to document what happend. Circular Tape sums up snippets and songs which were captured at the instant of creative flow. The result are rare style recordings directly from the veins; shortend sweet to give you only the best and the worst, perhaps the essens of what makes time fly for a moment. No computer has contributed with any sounds and in fact no computer can scan a cassette tape. Circular Tape is absolutely elegant in any music collection.
